Eastern Redbud
An Explosion of Pink In The Spring Just when winter has reached the point where you can't stand to wear a scarf and gloves again, the Eastern Redbud (Cercis canadensis) bursts into a pink cotton candy ball of blossoms. The flowers come straight out of the branches and even the trunk. They pop out before the leaves do. When the leaves do show, though, they are perfectly heart-shaped and a lovely light green.
